Seminar Winter Semester 2020/21

Design and Construction - Free Scientific Research

In the winter semester 2020/21, the seminar module "Design and Construction" will be held within the framework of self-defined topics and a largely independent scientific elaboration of this task.

It is recommended that the chosen topic should be worked on together in a group of two, preferably consisting of one student of architecture and one student of civil engineering. The building in a holistic view is the main focus of the B.Sc. module "Design and Construction". The aim of the seminar is to grasp and understand building typologies, construction methods, construction and joining principles and, in addition, to understand the interrelationships between building use, shell and construction. As an introduction to the module, the participants must find a suitable topic and narrow it down in the form of a short presentation and description. The search for suitable literature and information material is already part of the first step. Furthermore, the procedure and the aim of the elaboration including a time schedule should be described.

The chosen topics will be dealt with independently to a large degree. Nevertheless there will be joint meetings with the supervisors. Meetings will be offered by architects and civil engineers - if necessary also other specialist planners.

About the online teaching:

Registration will take place via the central allocation procedure in C@mpus. If necessary, participants will be drawn by lot. The central supervision appointments, an intermediate colloquium and the final presentation will be organised as video conferences via Web-Ex. The students will receive an invitation to the Web-Ex conference by email. It is advisable to download the app from this link beforehand, but participation via internet browser only is also possible with a few small restrictions.

Organisational and technical information is provided by the ILIAS platform. Teamwork in groups of 2 is possible, preferably consisting of one student of architecture and one student of civil engineering.
