Fensterblick

A person stands at the window of the apartment and looks down on a vacant building. "It's a pity that this building is empty. Wouldn't it be good to make something new out of it?" In his / her mind, it fills with life again a short time later. Lights are burning here and there, people can be seen pursuing their hobbies, at work or in their homes. There is a hustle and bustle. People come and go. The formerly gray, lifeless building suddenly looks lively and inviting again. "Yes, I could imagine it like that," thinks the person at the window "Finally, there's life here again. That's nice ..."

In the "Fensterblick" design, the situation described above is to be applied to the EnBW office building on the Stöckach.  Increasing land sealing and the use of already existing potentials are much discussed topics today and will probably gain importance in the future. The aim of the design task is to fill the existing faceless and industrially sober structure with new life, to consider what the building could look like and what different uses could find a place here that would meaningfully complement the area around the Stöckach and create added value for the residents.

At the beginning of the design, a short story should be written from the point of view of the person at the window. In this way, initial ideas for the building's spatial program and design are to be formulated and the foundation laid for a design concept.

In addition to the urban planning and building design concept, the most important construction details are also to be worked on in order to make it credible how the conceived concept is to be translated into built reality. Solutions for a flexible, sustainable and resource-saving construction method are to be applied.

An exhibition and publication of the designs following the project work is planned. Interdisciplinary collaboration in teams with students from Faculty 2 (Civil and Environmental Engineering) is expressly encouraged.
